My wife did a workshop with Canadian singer Ann Mortifee some years ago and Ann shared that the higher the note we wanted to hit, the deeper into ourselves we had to go.
One of the most profound experiences I’ve had, in which I spent half an hour in my original dimensionality, happened because I did a meditation in which I went deeper and deeper into myself and then released my energy. It went correspondingly high and in the space between the two poles, I emerged.
If we want to free ourselves from the unwanted residue of our experience, which is stored in our muscles as what Reich called “character armoring” and what Eckhart Tolle calls “the pain body,” I think we must be willing to deepen our experience of ourselves, to re-experience through to completion, without resistance, the tension that is stored in them.
Resistance – an unwillingness to re-experience what originally traumatized us – keeps us within a tight and narrow range of expression. It causes sclerosis of our spiritual arteries and petrification of our spiritual muscles.
A refusal to allow depth in ourselves for fear of opening up Pandora’s Box will condemn us to a narrow range of expression. We are then people with stringy, high-pitched voices, who start at a noise, and who cannot stand in the face of something fearful.
The higher our tension, the lower our awareness. They are, as far as I can see, inversely proportional to each other. Tension means muscular tension, the storage of our past issues as tightened muscles, the kind that give us back and shoulder pain, etc. And awareness means everyday awareness, memory, sensitivity, etc.
A refusal to go into the realms of darkness within ourselves, to allow our shadow side a voice, to re-experience that which traumatized us in earlier years condemns us to block the flow of experience within ourselves and refuse expansion.
And expansion is what we face into these days.
Why are so many of us sick in a time of expansion? There are many reasons, I’m sure. But one of them, I think is because those things we swallowed, that we refused to stand in the face of, are now surfacing to be released under the influence of the intensive energies being beamed to Earth at this time.
Previously they went down and into us. Now they’re going the other way, up and out of us. They’re rising rather than being tamped down. But the experience is the same.
When we froze and swallowed our fear, we were sickened. Now, as we re-experience and release our fears, we’re sickened again. But this is the sickness of release and must be gone through, I believe, to be free of our past, suffering, and pain.
On the other side of this process of release, we breathe easier. We feel love rise in our being. We have ourselves in a way we didn’t before.
This is not emergence through taking a stand. This is not emergence through breakthrough. This is emergence through the completion of our unwanted experience.
And this is a skill that I believe we must learn. And there isn’t time to teach it. How will we do this?
