In December 2012, Archangel Michael said that 30 percent of Earth’s population would have ascended if we had all gone then. (1)
By February 2013, Sanat Kumara told us that that number had increased to 55 percent. (2)
If we want to increase it further, which is why many of us Starseeds and lightworkers came here in the first place, then we may need to find ways of getting around the barriers that people have to some notions relating to Ascension.
One of the most basic notions that some people may have difficulty with, I believe, is the notion of God.
Is God an old man with a white beard? Is God a jealous God? Does God allow evil? On and on the questions flow.
If we wish to realize God, I’m led to believe that we need to love God, as Jesus said, with all our heart, mind, and soul. But if the idea of God is hard to relate to or accept, why not consider loving love?
“God is love,” St. John informs us, “and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (4) There’s no distinction between God and love. Not like this is easy for a Third-Dimensional mind to grasp. I don’t find it easy. It’s one of the matters I’m obliged to accept on faith until I’ve tested it out.
“Mary” tells us that knowing God as love unlocks all treasures for us.
“Do you know what love really is? Do you understand that love is God and God is all? Do you understand that in those words you are reading the whole truth and that you need no other? If God is all there is, then you need only to accept and express love to touch upon all of wisdom, to realize all of realization, to express all there is to express.” (5)
Western sages like Pseudo-Dionysius assure us that God is inaccessible to knowing but accessible to love. God cannot be known with the mind, but only with the heart. They know God who “enter into the darkness [of unknowing] with love; for in truth it is here, as the Bible makes clear, that he dwells who is above all.” (6) A thousand years later, the anonymous author of The Cloud of Unknowing agreed with the sage: “Only to our intellect is he incomprehensible: not to our love.” (7)
Eastern texts also tell us that God reveals him/herself to one who loves. Sri Krishna for example: ” I am … known to the wise in their love when they worship with hearts overflowing.” (8) Or Paramahansa Yogananda: “Love is the magnet from which God cannot escape.” (9)
There’s no disagreement among enlightened sages around the world and down through the ages on the subject of love. It isn’t culturally-specific; it’s universal.
Loving the Beloved, we find the Beloved; finding the Beloved, we find ourselves. As Anandamoyi Ma suggests for the East: “To find the Beloved is to find my Self, to discover that God is my very own, wholly identical with myself, my innermost Self, the Self of my Self.” (10)
And Catherine of Genoa agrees for the West: “My Me is God, nor do I recognize any other Me except my God Himself.” (11)
If God is love, it may be no surprise to find out that we are as well, as “Mary” attests: “Love is what you are, love is what you do, love is everything you feel.” (12)
So if it rubs us the wrong way to hear about God, then perhaps let’s talk about love. Or truth. Or peace. Or bliss. To the best of my knowledge, God does not require us to bend the knee to him or her. But I’d be hard-pressed to believe that there’s anyone alive who could resist bending the knee to love.
