Happy Sunday, dear friends. Something remarkable happened this past week on Facebook. I spoke about it last week on the Feel Good News, but the story morphed into so much more.
I will talk about the specifics later in this article, but I want to talk about the miraculous nature of the energy that created the situation. It proves beyond doubt that when individual people share their energy and focus, amazing things can happen.
A young boy shared his thoughts about who inspired him. Pretty simple stuff really, and it is probably a question asked of many people on any given day. He just happened to share his message with a person who had access to many other people, and a platform to not only share his message, but get behind it in a big way.
When that being shared the boy’s message, he asked his group to help. The help that was received was tremendous, and far exceeded the level of help that anyone could have imagined. Why did this occur? Other ask for help every day, and the support received may not be as great.
In my estimation, the reason why this situation morphed into the miraculous, is because the request for help stood out as something inspiring. It wasn’t lost in a sea of old energy hopelessness. It allowed beings to think about their values, and what they wish to see in the world. It allowed beings to feel good about putting their energy behind the situation. They weren’t being asked to fix anything, or support old world ways of doing things. They were asked to think on an inspired level.
They shared their money, which is an existing worldly way of placing their energetic intention behind the message shared by the boy. They joined as a group, stepping out of the old way of doing things and into the new way of doing things. They felt good about their support, and that good feeling expanded across the universe. It created an opportunity for change, where none existed before.
We can all do this. We can, as an individual, set intentions for the miraculous in our lives. We can then share these intentions with others and as a group, focus on how good it will feel when these intentions come to pass. We can then, as a world, focus on all the good things coming to pass. At that moment, the whole world changes. We can do this with anything, take world peace for instance!
We especially have the opportunity to do this when we share good news. We can be grateful for this good news, and ask the universe for more. This is one of the reasons why I so adore sharing Feel Good News with you all!
President Obama hosts the student and his principal from the Humans of New York campaign.
Yep, this is the story I was referring to above. The campaign to crowdfund a field trip to Harvard, for the students at Mott Hall Bridges Academy in the Browsnville section of Brooklyn, New York has reached well over $1Million US. The funds will be used to create summer programs in this under-served neighborhood, as well as create a scholarship program for students.
Vidal Chastanet, who initially shared that his principal Nadia Lopez was his inspiration, will be the first scholarship recipient. The inspirational situation drew the attention of the White House and President Obama received the two, along with Brandon Stanton, the founder of Humans of New York, in the Oval Office, this past week.
President Obama shared some good advice with Chastanet. He told him to never be afraid to ask for help or mentoring. There are plenty of people out there, just looking for a chance to support you, and the only way to receive help is to ask for it. You will be amazed as how much help you can get, if you are open to it.
I hope that this situation shows other under-served neighborhoods that anything is possible when they take a chance, stepping out of the old ways of doing things and into the new way. If your neighborhood, or school or anything is under-served, you can ask for help from alternative sources. You can create your own help and opportunity, where none existed before. You can change your world, if you decide not to take no for an answer, and never give up searching for a solution.
I truly believe that this is the way we will transform our world. If the way things are traditionally done is no longer working, simply look for and expect a new way to emerge. With the new energies, it will show up. It is bound to!
How the environmental movement spurred a generation of new US farmers.
A few months ago, my youngest daughter shared that she was unhappy with her current program of study at university. She did some soul searching and some internet searching for programs and decided that her heart was in horticulture.
She shared a passion for changing the world through plants. She is, after all, her mother’s daughter and she observed my experiences with gardening, herbalism, permaculture and wild foraging. She understood the mantra that my grandfather had instilled in me. A girl and her shovel, can change the world.
Many young people from traditional farming communities absolutely cannot wait to get out. Inheriting the conventional farmer’s life is the last thing they want to do.
On the other hand, highly educated, cause-driven individuals, who have focused their energy into the environmental movement are choosing to take a bite out of the land and go back to farming.
These new, small-scale farms are implementing organic practices, sustainable energy platforms and giving back to the land. They are creating local organic produce, not just in rural areas, but even on urban rooftops.
Projects like Greenhorns, which shares resources and offers support for new farmers, are creating a web of connectedness which did not exist for conventional farmers. When times get tough, they can reach out to each other for support.
The internet, in general, has also helped this generation of Back-to-the Land enthusiasts. It provides them with an opportunity for connection, as well as a platform to share their mission and garner community support. They can sell their products via Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA shares, which gives them up front funding to support their farming. They also utilize the local explosion of farmer’s markets to expand this support, They can also sell products on the internet, which gives them all a far greater reach than ever before possible.
I shared an article a few months ago from the UN, that said small scale farming would save the world from hunger. I truly believe this is the case, and I applaud these brave individuals who have decided, of their own free will, to return to the land and become sustainable stewards for our blessed Gaia. I also support my dear daughter in her exploration of horticulture. I know she will apply her passion and love, along with the knowledge she will gain, to help create a miraculous living future for our blessed planet, along with other beautiful hearts from her generation.

Another remarkable kid makes big changes at a Canadian high school, simply by opening the door.
The heart break of bullying can devastate an individual. I do not know a single person who was not affected by bullying at some level in their lives. We know that most bullies, just as with any abuse, have been victims themselves at some point. We can have compassion for the bullies, but creating an atmosphere where bullying does not even exist should be the goal.
Josh Yandt was bullied as a young man. It initially started, because he had pictures of his departed father in his school locker. He missed his dad tremendously. Other kids saw the pictures and teased him about it. Eventually the bullying got so bad that Josh’s mom decided to move to a bigger city and enroll him in a new school.
They moved to London, Ontario and he started at his new school. It was then that he decided to make a brave decision. He began greeting other students and opening doors for them. At first he felt awkward, but his confidence grew daily. His efforts not only changed his own life, but literally transformed his school.
This video brought tears to my eyes as I watched this young man go from a victim to a hero. What an inspiring story, and it really shows that courage and love can shift any situation. Kudos to you Josh!

More tiny homes.
I simply adore the tiny home movement. The idea of having everything you need in a small and affordable space proves, that housing can be created for everyone.
The homes shared here are built on the idea of Quonset huts, which were originally created for quick military housing. They are adorable, and anything but drab!

And finally….
Slo-mo hummingbirds.
No explanation needed, other than to say, this is totally mind blowing. Another amazing super slow motion video from Earth Unplugged, this time featuring the aerial antics of hummingbirds. To view the aerodynamic nature of these tiny birds, you can literally see the advanced technology that went into their creation!
