We’ve actually sent off personal thank you’s to all contributors. It was wonderful seeing all of you, many of whom I’ve spoken with by email.
It’s Day Three of our campaign and I have a number of matters to chat with you about.
Every project has surprises that arise. We didn’t predict that raising funds for the Hope Chest would also bring a large number of requests for funds. Of course it makes sense and we’re happily at work managing them. That’s what we’re here for.
But members of the Hope Chest were also intending to send individual thank-you’s to the 200 people who’ve donated so far and the totality of the work is starting to exceed their capacity. So I’ve asked them to let me ask you if you’d allow them to forego individual thank-you’s. Please allow me to thank you here from the bottom of our hearts as a group of donors on behalf of all the lightworkers who will benefit from your donations. Is that alright?
A second matter arises that funds are limited for disbursement and requests are many. Please know that the funds are intended for lightworkers. If we had unlimited funds we wouldn’t need to make at least a cursory attempt to determine who’s a lightworker and who not. But it isn’t our mission to send money out to everyone. Our commitment is to lightworkers, we regret to say.
So we may need to ask the people who’ve written in so far simply to send us two to four sentences (if they haven’t already) describing what their connection to lightwork may be as a very rough screen. We’ll be changing the Hope Chest form to make this an automatic request from here on in.
That’s always such a hard request to make. We mean no disrespect. We simply have to have a way of determining that the money goes to lightworkers because they are our “constituency.”
The people who’ve sent in requests so far, if they could, under their own steam so to speak, please send in two to four sentences letting us know their connection to lightwork. That would be very helpful. Some of you already have sent in that information and this request is not meant for you.
Those for whom we don’t receive information, we’ll probably be contacting you. You’ll just be saving us an extra step if you send in a note without our asking. This is not a request for a dissertation. Two to four sentences laying that out would be fine.
We also may not be able to send repeated sums out, except in a very small number of cases. So if you’ve asked a few times already, we may need to tend to others next in line. Again we wish our funds were unlimited but, alas, they’re not and the needs are great.
Let me add as well that the Hope Chest is behind in answering some requests. There was a transition time between Dave and Casey and there has also been a time in which the Hope Chest has had no money. For those of you who’ve written in asking what happened, that’s the reason for that delay. We’re working overtime now to see to the requests that have been on hold, so to speak.
I’m in the Hope Chest email account at this moment. The team has asked me to help them establish criteria to sort out the large influx of requests.
Your letters are heart-wrenching. I am truly impacted from reading them. I intend to spend today just studying them. Writing articles on more general topics, when we have this example of people suffering before us, seems to pale in comparison.
People facing eviction, needing money for groceries, sitting in their winter coats without heat. People knowing old people who have nothing. The number of requests is so large that we know we can’t meet all of them as matters stand at the moment. But we’ll do all we can to serve as many people as we can.
As I read these letters, I feel doubly thankful if you’d allow us just to attend to the requests for help rather than take the time of our small team out to write individualized thank you’s to donors. We have a great deal to attend to. I see also that there are some cases where we cannot expect the people who write in to send us evidence of their cases being those of lightworkers. In those cases, we will not insist on the matter. We’re simply trying to work with scarce resources.
I think tomorrow (or maybe even later today) I may send along some extracts from your letters, without identifying you. Truly if we want to build Nova Earth, we have a good start right here in our own backyard, with the people who are writing in to the Hope Chest. There is misery out there and it falls to us to do something about it.
