Occupy LA Addresses the President
Transcript of Occupy LA’s video letter to President Obama
Dear Mr President,
We are suffering from an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. A crisis that is costing the people both economically, ecologically and morally. A greedy embolden corporate class system is undermining many settled expectations and long standing citizen and democratic protections. These acts of aggression have educed a response coined Occupation; which is respectfully named in order to ensure that the job of unification is beneficial to all sentient beings.
We have the ability to affect world wide change. And it is our social responsibility to be the change we wish to see in the world and to challenge conventional reality in light of higher ideals.
We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who are being oppressed. We realize the occupy movement has gained an enormous amount of energy calling the world to a new perspective and direction. Our current system is severely injured. The basic needs of the planet are not being met. The utilization of the currency system is being utilized as a tool of coercion to restrict and prohibit the growth and development of our nation.
Humanity is at a major tipping point. That has the momentum to unleash the collective will to serve our highest principles based on conscious action, service and wisdom. In order to bequeath a story of unity and consciousness in a time of isolation and fear.
We would like to begin with a quote from Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.:
“The struggle dissolves the deceptive façade and reveals basic evils in the society. When those who struggle properly and justly to achieve their rights enlarge the rights of all.”
This humanitarian, economic and ecological crisis has caused us to address this critical time in history when everyone must make difficult decisions. We the people have responded to the global injustice of the corporations world wide and the financially manipulated government organizations that have for decades extorted and oppressed the people. In order to have a more transparent people based government changes must be made.
It is our intention to frame the common narrative based in the principals of Awareness, Love, and accountability. Through this peaceful evolutionary movement called Occupy. It impels us to address the needs of our current struggle and our crisis world wide. This movement is an essential advancement in defining the needs of the people in America and the world.
The time has come to address the arrogance of “officialdom” that must be tempered and controlled. To address the individual states in our nation, to call for clarity and wisdom to both the inadequacies and the possibilities that exist in our social system. To bring collective action to the table that addresses the needs of the individual and collective narrative of the people. To bring awareness of the suffering of our human families. To assure the growth and development of our nation toward freedom and personal effectiveness as well as collective equality. To fix the suffering by establishing a shift in the laws, behavior, narrative and actions of its people at every level. It is or social responsibility to be the change we wish to see in the world. And to challenge conventional reality in the light of higher ideals.
Through a common understanding of these rights and freedoms it is the greatest importance for having a higher estimate of our own significance. The significance of what we are doing in life what we are passing on to future generations. We have time to recover the integrity of our generations from its miss deeds. We the people have the power to choose. To peacefully denounce the unprecedented concentrative trend toward inequality. Owing only to the claims of duty that are called upon us nothing prevents our power of choice. Because we the people have the power of choice to withhold our vote because no one in this country is exempt from their power to choose.
What will our children and grandchildren think of us when we leave them to think about what our generation does or does not do. To inherit the cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan criminal wars of aggression. When we could have wind and sun technology why are we honoring the cost of Iraq and Afghanistan criminal wars of aggression.
Our nation is hungry for a constitutional convention and a safe country for our children. This peaceful movement will continue until the changes to our demands are made. Arthur Schopenhauer once explained that : “All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed; Second, it is violently opposed; Third, it is accepted as self-evident.” In the face of this magnified humanitarian crisis we call on you President Obama, to address us, the “99%”. Mr. President as Kennedy warns us “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will only make violent revolution inevitable.”
We the people are one and we stand in peace undivided through the principals of open collaboration. The fundamental responsibilities of the humanitarian crisis need to be addressed. Our goal is to spread hope, awareness and to strengthen the idea of a collective web of 100%. To unify all cultures, all species, all movements addressing the human rights violations that we have all experienced on some level.
In conclusion we would like to express our gratitude to the Los Angeles City council, with genuineness to the mayor, to the Los Angeles police department, the indigenous people of our nation, the inter-faith community and to people around the world who have supported and are supporting our fundamental shift in consciousness. For without their support and continued cooperation in achieving our goal to convene here with you the occupy movement would not be possible. We thank you.
