It is phoney for Senators and Representatives of whatever party to pose as budget cutters when they support a war budget such as it is today. Those who support the perpetual war machine are bigger spenders than those who support social programs. They would have us cut spending on medicare and other social services for use by the military to fight illegal wars against Afghanis and Iraqis for a variety of immoral ends. I suggest that we not be fooled by the current crop of politicians assailing social programs but funding wars.
“In this budget alone, we would have spent 113 billion dollars on this war. You want to cut off waste, let’s get out of Afghanistan. Otherwise, there is no end in sight. We are going to be there until at least 2020. And, that’s going to cost us at least another trillion dollars. Where are we going to get that money from? Are we gonna cut social security, health care, and funds for education?” says Dennis Kucinich, addressing the house defending the resolution that calls for withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan by December 31, 2011.
“Are we ready to give up our entire domestic agenda so that we can continue on the path of a war to prop up a corrupt regime whose friends are building up a Villa in Dubai presumably with money that comes from the United States” remarked Dennis.
