Ed watched the Thich Nath Hanh video posted earlier today and went to Plum Village website, retrieving this talk by Thich before the World Parliament of Religions held in Melbourne in 2009, entitled “A Collective Awakening for the Future of Our Planet.” (https://www.plumvillage.org/dharma-talks/video.html). The notion of a conscious convergence in awakening is certainly germaine.
The video seems to need a short while to load. I’ve included the URL, above, in case it doesn’t work.
I haven’t listened to the video entirely, this being my day off, but the snippet I listened to had Thich addressing future technology from an ecological viewpoint, which I thought was interesting. I think our spiritual leaders and our political leaders are going to converge in the years ahead, with the former becoming more “practical” and the latter becoming more spiritual.
The write-up says:
“Thay [teacher] Thich Nhat Hanh offers a special Dharma Talk to the 2009 Parliament of World Religions being held in Melbourne Australia. This very special and powerful talk, transmitted by video to hundreds of people in Australia, opens the doors of practice available through the Five Mindfulness Trainings. The Five Mindfulness Trainings offer a concrete path of practice that can lead to a collective awakening, that can transform our hatred, fear and greed, in turn bringing healing to ourselves and our planet, solving the problems of climate change, terrorism, and poverty at their root.”
