In the course of writing his interpretation of this week’s The Event on Share11, Chris has the following to say. He interprets The Event in terms of what is actually happening in the world at the moment and does the kind of whole-world contextualizing that only Chris can do.
Chris, ‘The Event’ – Episode 9 – Viewing Notes

I think it is safe to say that ‘The Event’ is working to instruct the public imagination about nothing less than the deadly reality of the Illuminati on Earth at this time, and how it alone stands between humanity and our positive, transformed collective future, with and through E.T. help.
It is impossible to imagine this kind of miniseries airing 5 years ago, or even 3 – or even 1. Only now is the meme (1) about the Illuminati apparently ready to be publicly exposed through this unlikely series.
‘The Event’ weaves a story that appears to be just a never-ending tale of meaningless pursuit, but in fact involves us in a weave of story that directly implicates the viewer in a significance that could not be more real, immediate, or uncomfortable.
We are being asked to consider the possibility that the story woven by ‘The Event’ may be a real one, not fictional. This is why the President is portrayed so carefully to resemble Obama — and to resemble Obama as a moral being on the threshold of a world-changing event involving both benign E.T.’s and humans.
We are also being instructed in the morality of humanoid E.T.’s on Earth at this time, with the possibility that life on Earth can be a corrupting influence even for super-human E.T.’s.
Beyond the play of characters and their circular entangled pursuit, perhaps an additional facet of reality being brought to light by this show is the presence of time running out. The world we are faced with in this story is a world where no one has time to not be aware of everything going on around them. We are shown a world in which politics is rife with deadly crisis that is rapidly bubbling to the top of public awareness.
One can imagine the world of ‘The Event’ as a place where, perhaps identical with our own, it is quickly becoming impossible to remain unaware of the truth of our collective situation thanks to the interpenetrating realities at play everywhere around and among us.

(1) A “meme” is the reduction of action to a form of catchphrase logic.
